Transfer Case Cooler: Removal

  1. Remove the RH catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter RH .
  2. Drain the transfer case. Refer to: Transfer Case Draining and Filling .
  3. Remove the transfer case temperature sensor heat shield bolts and the heat shield.

  4. Disconnect the transfer case temperature sensor electrical connector.

  5. Unclip the transfer case temperature sensor wiring harness from the retainer clip and position aside.

  6. NOTE: Clean the area around the transfer case temperature sensor before removing.
    NOTE: The PTU temperature sensor can be removed using a 15mm crows foot and extension.

    Remove the transfer case temperature sensor.

  7. Using the hose clamps, pinch off the transfer case coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  8. NOTE: Some coolant will leak out when the PTU coolant lines are removed.

    Remove the transfer case cooler line bolt and position the transfer case cooler lines aside.

  9. Remove the transfer case cooler bolts and the transfer case cooler.

  10. Remove and discard the transfer case cooler gasket.
