Transfer Case

- Remove the front subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe .
- If equipped with PTU cooling system, drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the RH halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS), All-Wheel Drive (AWD) .
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
- Disconnect the catalyst monitor electrical connector.

Remove and discard the driveshaft to PTU bolt and washer assemblies.

Position aside the driveshaft.
- Mark the driveshaft and PTU flange alignment.
- Separate the driveshaft from the PTU flange.
- Push the engine forward and position aside the driveshaft.
- Remove the RH catalytic converter to transmission bracket bolts.
- Remove the RH catalytic converter bracket through bolt and bracket.
- Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter nuts. Remove the RH catalytic converter.
- Remove and discard the converter gasket.
- Disconnect the PTU temperature sensor.
- Remove the PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.
- Disconnect and position aside the PTU vent hose.
- Remove the PTU support bracket bolts and the PTU support bracket.
- If equipped with PTU cooling system. Release the hose clamps and position aside the PTU cooling system hoses.

NOTE: This is a tight fit, use care to not damage the transmission and PTU mating surfaces.
Remove the PTU bolts and the PTU.
- Remove and discard the PTU to transmission compression seal.
