Selector Lever Cable - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6F35: Removal

  1. Prior to replacing the selector lever cable for a no start or high shift effort concern, verify the selector lever cable to bracket clip is fully seated at the transmission and selector lever assembly. Unseated cables can cause selector lever cable binding and prevent the manual shaft from completely returning to the P position.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  2. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  4. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission controller arm and position aside.

    1. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission controller arm.
    2. Remove the bolt and position aside the selector lever assembly.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  5. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer.

  6. Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .
  7. NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.

    Using a screwdriver, pry the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.

  8. Remove the selector lever cable retainer.

  9. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer from the bracket.

  10. Remove the HVAC ducts.

    1. Remove the pushpins and the HVAC duct.
    2. Remove the bolts and the HVAC duct.

  11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  12. Detach the wiring retainers and position aside the wiring harness.

  13. Remove the nuts and the selector lever cable.
