Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - Vehicles With: Active Warm Up: Removal

NOTE: Perform the following step to remove any tube.

Remove the air cleaner. For 2.7L, Refer to: Air Cleaner . For 3.5L, Refer to: Air Cleaner .
NOTE: Perform the following seven steps to remove the front tubes.
Remove the quick-connect coupling secondary latches.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the cooler bypass valve.

Remove the active grille shutter. Refer to: Active Grille Shutter .
NOTE: 2.7L GTDI.

Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolts.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

Release the clamps, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler and remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
1. Rotate the transmission fluid cooler tubes clockwise.
2. Pull the transmission fluid cooler tubes out and remove.

Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolts.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

Release the clamps, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler and remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
1. Rotate the transmission fluid cooler tubes clockwise.
2. Pull the transmission fluid cooler tubes out and remove.

NOTE: Perform the following six steps to remove the rear tubes.
Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

Remove and discard the transmission fluid tube bolt and studbolts. Remove the transmission-to-warmer tube.

Remove the bolts and the LH splash shield.

Completely loosen the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings and remove the tubes.

If necessary, remove the backing rings and band seals from the transmission and the transmission fluid warmer.
