Cooler Bypass Valve: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the air cleaner. For 2.7L, Refer to: Air Cleaner . For 3.5L, Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Remove the quick-connect coupling secondary latches.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the cooler bypass valve.
- Remove the bolts and the LH splash shield.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Completely loosen the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.
- Remove the nuts and the cooler bypass valve.
