Main Control Cover - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS): Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
- Remove the screws, the clip and the LH undershield.
- Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission. Install the drain plug.
Torque
: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
- Disconnect the transmission electrical connector, remove the wiring retainers and position aside the vehicle wiring harness.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Remove and discard the bolt.
- Loosen the fitting and remove the transmission fluid cooler tube.

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with active warm up.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Remove and discard the bolt.
- Loosen the fitting and remove the transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Inspect the transmission case or fluid warmer to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler tube seal and backing ring was removed with the transmission fluid cooler tube. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seal or backing ring is stuck in the transmission case or fluid warmer, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Remove the nuts and position aside the transmission fluid cooler thermal bypass valve.

NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.
Remove the bolts and remove the main control cover.
