Evaporative Emission Canister: Removal

Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures may be present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect

AWD
- Remove the LH rear halfshaft. Refer to: Rear Halfshaft .
- Position and secure a transmission jack under the RDU. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove the rear RDU mounting bolts.
Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)
- Remove the front RDU mounting bolts and using the transmission jack, slightly lower the RDU. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)
All vehicles

- Disconnect the EVAP canister quick connect couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Remove the nuts and the EVAP canister.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
