Ignition Coil-On-Plug: Installation

  1. Install ignition coil-on-plugs, then install and tighten the ignition coil-on-plug retainers.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    • Attach the wiring harness retainers to the ignition coil-on-plug studbolts.

    • Push the wire harness side connector onto the ignition coil-on-plug connector until locked. A clicking sound will be heard when fully seated. Slide the red locking tab (CPA) toward the ignition coil-on-plug until a second clicking sound is heard.

  2. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
    1. NOTE: Lubricating the grommets with silicone grease will aid in the installation of the engine appearance cover, and any future removal and installation of the cover.

      Lubricate each grommet with silicone grease.

      Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)

    2. Position the engine appearance cover onto engine with the grommets aligned with the studs.
    3. Press down on the engine appearance cover at each grommet location to attach the grommets onto the studs.
