Cooling Module: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. If equipped. Remove the pin-type retainers and the radiator site shield.

  5. Remove the upper radiator guide pins.

  6. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  8. Remove the quick-connect coupling secondary latches from the transmission cooler tubes.

  9. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the cooler bypass valve. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  10. Detach the pin-type retainer. Release the clamp and disconnect the degas bottle coolant tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  11. Remove the A/C line support bracket bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    1. Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector.
    2. Remove the condenser outlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 155 lb.in (17.5 Nm)

    3. Remove the condenser inlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  12. If equipped. Remove the retainers and the RH under body shield.

  13. Release the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  14. Detach the pin-type retains.

  15. NOTE: Verify the degas bottle coolant tube is routed correctly so it is not damaged during removal.

    Remove the bolts and the cooling module.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
