Cylinder Head to Coolant Outlet Connector Hose Assembly: Removal

Left-hand (LH) side 

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
    1. Remove the oil filler cap.
    2. Remove the fasteners and the engine appearance cover.

  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  3. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH .
  4. Remove the LH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
  5. Detach the bracket retainer, loosen the clamp, and disconnect the coolant hose.

  6. Detach the pin-type and stud bolt retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  7. Remove the fasteners and the coolant hose support bracket.

  8. NOTE: Do not pry the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector behind the fastener bracket. If necessary use gripping pliers to pull the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector from the cylinder head.

    Release the hose clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Remove the bolt and the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector hose assembly. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  9. Inspect the O-ring and replace if necessary.

    Right-hand (RH) side 

  10. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
    1. Remove the oil filler cap.
    2. Remove the fasteners and the engine appearance cover.

  11. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  12. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH .
  13. Remove the LH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
  14. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump sound insulator.

  15. NOTE: If equipped.

    Remove the transmission fluid warmer. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Warmer .

  16. Disconnect the high-pressure fuel pump electrical connector, detach the harness retainers, and remove the stud bolt.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  17. Detach the pin-type retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  18. NOTE: Do not pry the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector behind the fastener bracket. If necessary use gripping pliers to pull the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector from the cylinder head.

    Release the hose clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Remove the bolt and the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector hose assembly. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  19. Inspect the O-ring and replace if necessary.
