Coolant Pump: Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
  3. Remove the engine mount. Refer to: Engine Mount .
  4. Remove the thermostat. Refer to: Thermostat .
  5. NOTE: If necessary, use a suitable tool to hold the pulley.

    Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.

  6. Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  7. NOTE: Use caution to prevent damage to the coolant inlet pipe grommet.

    Remove the bolts and the coolant pump.

  8. Remove and discard the coolant pump gasket and seal.
