Cooling Module: Removal

NOTE: When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. Remove the active grille shutter. Refer to: Active Grille Shutter .
  4. Remove the upper radiator guide pins.

  5. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  7. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolts.

    Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

  8. Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  9. NOTE: Bumper beam not shown for clarity.

    1. Remove the CAC pipe bolt.

      Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

    2. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC inlet pipe from the CAC.

      Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

  10. Remove the A/C line support bracket bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    1. Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector.
    2. Remove the condenser outlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 155 lb.in (17.5 Nm)

    3. Remove the condenser inlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  11. Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector.

    1. Remove the CAC pipe bolt.

      Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

    2. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC outlet pipe from the CAC.

      Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

  13. Release the tabs and disconnect the coolant tube.

    Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

  15. NOTE: Components not shown for clarity.

    Remove the bolts and the cooling module.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
