Upper Intake Manifold: Removal

NOTE:
If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.
- Remove the engine appearance cover.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Disconnect the electrical connector and the wire retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and the wire retainer.
- Disconnect the EVAP tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Disconnect the vacuum hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the retainers and position aside the coolant hose.
- Remove the upper intake manifold support bolt.
- Remove the bolts and the upper intake manifold.
- Remove and discard the upper intake manifold gaskets.
- Clean and inspect all of the sealing surfaces of the upper and lower intake manifold.
