Upper Intake Manifold: Installation

NOTE: If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.

Install the new upper intake manifold gaskets.

Install the intake manifold and the bolts.
Torque: Stage 1: Tighten bolts 1 and 3-7 to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) plus an additional: 45 deg. Stage 2: Tighten bolt 2 to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) plus an additional: 90 deg.

Install the upper intake manifold support bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Position back the coolant hose and connect the retainers.

Connect the vacuum hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

Connect the EVAP tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

Connect the electrical connectors and the wire retainer.

Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
Install the engine appearance cover.
