Oil Cooler: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .
    • Using hose locking pliers, clamp the oil cooler coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers

    • Using the hose clamp remover, remove the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  4. Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wire harness retainers.

  6. Remove the nut and position out the line bracket.

  7. Remove the stud bolts and bolt. Position out the A/C compressor and secure.

  8. NOTE: If metal or foreign material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose the mechanical concerns refer to Engine .

    Remove the bolts and the oil cooler.

  9. Remove and discard the oil cooler O-rings.
