Valve Cover LH: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

- Remove the nut.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the engine appearance cover.
- If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened into the intake manifold.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened into the intake manifold.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

- Disconnect the crankcase pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Detach the PCV tube retainer. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Disconnect the PCV tube quick release coupling and remove the tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Remove the LH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
- Loosen the clamps and remove the upper CAC outlet pipe.
- Remove the throttle body. Refer to: Throttle Body .

- Disconnect the EVAP tube quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Disconnect the EVAP purge valve electrical connector.
- Lift the EVAP purge valve off of the intake manifold mounting tab.
- Disconnect the vacuum tube quick release couplings and position the tube aside. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors and retainers.

- Remove the vacuum harness pressure sensor bolt.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connectors.
- Detach the wiring harness and vacuum harness retainers.

- Remove the ground wire bolt.
- Detach the retainers and position the ground wire aside.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.

- Disconnect the quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
- Disconnect the CMP electrical connectors.

- Slide the insulator up to access the CHT electrical connector.
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors and detach the harness and vacuum hose retainers.
- Detach the engine wiring harness and vacuum hose retainers from the RH valve cover.
- Remove the bolts and position TC boost solenoid aside.
- Disconnect the TC vacuum supply hose.
- Remove the LH coil-on-plug assemblies. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Loosen the fasteners and remove the valve cover.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.
- Inspect the spark plug seals. Remove any damaged seals using the special tools. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation . Use the General Equipment: Plastic Scraper
