Oil Pump: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  3. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
    2. Refer to: Engine Front Cover .

  4. If necessary. Install Special Service Tool: 303-050 (T70P-6000) Lifting Bracket, Engine.

  5. Remove the retainers and the LH finish panel.

  7. Install Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine.

  8. Remove the jack and wooden block. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

  9. Loosen the clamp and position CAC inlet tube off the turbocharger.

  10. Loosen the clamp, remove the nuts and the CAC inlet tube.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors and wiring retainer.

    • Remove the nut and stud.

    • Remove the bolts and position the A/C compressor aside and support.

    • Remove the oil pan drain bolt and drain the engine oil. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

    • Install the oil pan drain bolt.

      Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)

  11. Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  12. Remove the oil pan bolts.

  13. Remove the oil pan-to-transmission bolt.

  14. Remove the bolts and the oil pan.

  15. Remove the bolts and the oil screen and pickup tube.

    1. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.

      Release the tension on the tensioner spring.

    2. Remove the shoulder bolts, tensioner and position the chain aside.

  17. Remove the bolt and oil pump sprocket.

  18. Remove the bolts and the oil pump.

  19. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pump.
