Passenger Knee Airbag: Removal

WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  2. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new passenger knee airbag.

    Remove the glove compartment lock cylinder. Refer to: Glove Compartment Lock Cylinder .

  3. Release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  4. Open the glove compartment.

  5. Detach the glove compartment door damper.

  6. Push the tabs and release the glove compartment door.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    2. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

    3. Remove the screws.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    4. Release the clips and remove the glove compartment. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
