Driver Knee Airbag: Removal

The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
- Open the stowage box and remove the retainers and the stowage box assembly.
- Remove the steering column opening trim panel.
- Remove the bolts.
- Release the clips and remove the steering column opening trim panel.
- Disconnect the in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor.
- Remove the nuts.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

- Through the opening, push the tabs down and detach the clips.
- Pivot the driver knee airbag down and separate it from the knee bolster.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the driver knee airbag.
