Seatbelt Systems - Overview: Overview
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Each seatbelt is a combination lap and shoulder belt (continuous loop), 3-point system. The continuous loop uses a common slip tongue and retractor.
When replacing seatbelt system parts, use only the replacement parts specified in the Ford parts catalog.
Vehicles with Rear Inflatable Seatbelts
Deployed Inflatable Seatbelt
On vehicles with rear inflatable seatbelts, each rear outboard seating position has a 3-point system which consists of a lower lap belt and retractor and an upper shoulder belt and retractor. The two are joined together at the seatbelt tongue and can be separated and serviced separately. The buckle tongue is unique to the inflatable seatbelt system and is part of the upper shoulder belt and retractor.
