Roof Opening Panel Shield: Removal

- Fully open the roof opening panel shield.
- Remove the headliner. Refer to: Headliner .

NOTE: Make sure the tension release pin is removed after the roof opening panel shield is installed or damage to the roof opening panel components may occur.NOTE: A new shield assembly comes with a tension release pin installed.
Release and lock the roof opening panel shield tension.
- Rotate the shield forward until the holes align.

NOTE: A 1mm (0.039 in) hex wrench can be used as a retaining pin.
Insert a 1mm (0.039 in) retaining pin, or equivalent, all the way through the shaft.

NOTE: RH side shown, LH side similar.
Detach the shield from the shield drive cable mechanism.
- On both sides. To unlock the roof opening shield crossbar from the shield drive cable mechanism, pull forward at the edge of the roof opening shield crossbar until an audible click is heard.
- Roll the roof opening shield crossbar down to fully detach from the shield drive cable mechanisms.
- Remove the roof opening panel shield.
- Rotate the roof opening panel shield until the end of the shaft is aligned with the bracket opening.
- Lift the roof opening panel shield off of the brackets.
- Remove the roof opening panel shield.
