Main Track Assembly: Removal

Remove the roof opening panel glass. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Glass .
Remove the acoustic seal.

Remove the air deflector. Refer to: Air Deflector .
Remove the roof opening panel shield. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Shield .
Remove the roof opening panel sliding glass and shield motors. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Motor .
NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

On both sides. Push the roof opening panel shield drive cable mechanism to the front of the track.

On both sides. Push the roof opening panel glass drive cable mechanism forward, stopping 51 mm (2 in.) from the front of the track.

Loosen the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube retainers 3 turns.

NOTE: The RH side must be removed for access to service the LH side.

RH side only. With the help of an assistant, disconnect the main track assembly from the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.
1. NOTE: Inset view is from above the vehicle for clarity.
  
  Note the position of the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) wire for proper installation.
2. Remove the 5 main track assembly retainers.
3. Remove the 2 main track assembly alignment retainers.
4. Pull the main track assembly from the roof opening panel motor block and tube assembly exposing the drive cables.

RH side only. With the help of an assistant, remove the main track assembly.
1. Flex the drive cables as necessary and pull out of the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.
2. Remove the main track assembly.

NOTE: Lower the cable return tube from the motor block only enough to fully release from the motor block.

The cable return tube remains clipped in the main track when removing. A new LH main track assembly is serviced with a new cable return tube attached.

LH side only. Disconnect the cable return tube from the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.

LH side only. With the help of an assistant, disconnect the main track assembly from the roof opening panel motor block and tube assembly.
1. Remove the 5 main track assembly retainers.
2. Remove the 2 main track assembly alignment retainers.
3. Pull the main track assembly from the roof opening panel motor block and tube assembly exposing the drive cables.

NOTE: The drive cables and mechanisms should not be removed from the main track assembly. A new main track assembly is serviced with the drive cables and mechanisms installed.

LH side only. With the help of an assistant, remove the main track assembly.
1. Flex the drive cables as necessary and pull out of the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.
2. Remove the main track assembly.

If servicing the front cam. Remove the main track assembly front cam.
1. Remove the main track assembly front cam retainers.
2. Note the position of the main track assembly front cam on the underside of the main track assembly and remove the main track assembly front cam.
