Rear Door Latch: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to: Rear Door Trim Panel .
  2. NOTE: The rear door removed for clarity.

    Remove the exterior door watershield.

  3. Remove the exterior rear door handle. Refer to: Exterior Rear Door Handle .
  4. NOTE: The rear door removed for clarity.

    Remove the exterior door handle reinforcement screw.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  5. NOTE: The rear door removed for clarity.

    Remove the rear door latch bolts.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    Route the interior rear door handle cable through the door.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Route the interior rear door handle cable through the door.

    Remove the retainers.

    Torque: 12 lb.in (1.3 Nm)

  8. Remove the rear door latch.

  9. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the interior rear door handle cable from the rear door latch.

  10. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

    1. Tighten the screw to release the rear exterior handle actuation lever tension on the cable.
    2. Detach and position aside the cable from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

  11. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the rear door latch.

    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Detach and position aside the cable from the rear door latch and remove the rear door latch.
