Rear Seat Backrest: Removal

Both seat backrests 

  1. If equipped with inflatable seatbelts, depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to: Rear Seat Cushion .
  3. Remove the load compartment luggage cover.

  4. Remove the load compartment floor cover.

  5. If equipped. Remove the spare tire cover.

  6. If equipped. Remove the LH side storage bin retainers.

    1. NOTE: The retainer covers have tethers on them and do not fully come off.

      Position aside the retainer covers.

    2. Remove the retainers.

  7. If equipped. Remove the LH side storage bin.

  8. If equipped. Remove the RH side storage bin retainers.

    1. NOTE: The retainer covers have tethers on them and do not fully come off.

      Position aside the retainer covers.

    2. Remove the retainers.

    RH seat backrest 

  10. Remove the RH rear seat backrest rear nuts.

    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

  11. Disconnect the RH body harness-to-rear seat backrest electrical connector.

  12. Remove the nuts and the RH rear seat backrest.

    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

    LH seat backrest 

  13. Remove the LH rear seat backrest rear nuts.

    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

  14. Disconnect the LH body harness-to-rear seat backrest electrical connector.

  15. Remove the nuts and the LH rear seat backrest.

    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

    Both seat backrests 

    NOTE: These steps are only necessary when installing a new component.
    NOTE: LH rear seat backrest shown, RH rear seat backrest similar.
  16. If equipped. Remove the rear outer seatbelt inflator. Refer to: Rear Outer Seatbelt Inflator LH - Vehicles With: Inflatable Seatbelts . Refer to: Rear Outer Seatbelt Inflator RH - Vehicles With: Inflatable Seatbelts .
  17. If equipped. Remove the power fold seat motor. Refer to: Power Fold Seat Motor .
  18. Release the U-clip and remove the backrest recline handle.

  19. Remove the outboard side shield.

    1. Remove the fastener.
    2. Remove the fastener.

  20. Remove the fasteners and the inboard side shield.

  21. Detach the rear center seatbelt lower anchor.

    1. Remove the fastener.

      Torque: 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm)

    2. Route the seatbelt through the upper backrest cover.

  22. Remove the bolts and separate the rear seat backrest from the rear seat backrest riser.
