Front Seat Lumbar Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the driver front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
  2. Adjust the manual lumbar to the fully relaxed position.

  3. Remove the height adjusting handle.

    1. Raise the height adjusting handle.
    2. Release the locking tab.
    3. Slide the height adjusting handle forward.

    1. Remove the clip and the recline handle.
    2. Remove the clip and the manual lumbar knob.

  4. Remove the side shield screws.

  5. Remove the side shield.

    1. Firmly grasp the side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    2. Slide the side shield forward.
    3. Lift up on the front of the side shield and slide the side shield from the height adjusting handle lever.

  6. Position the lumbar assembly cable away from the seat track.

    • Disconnect the cable from the lumbar actuator.

    • Detach the cable retainers from the seat track.

  7. If required. Remove the screws and the manual lumbar actuator.

  8. Position the backrest wire harness aside.

    1. Release the locking tab and disconnect the wire harness electrical connector.
    2. Detach the wire harness connector retainer from the seat track.
    3. Detach the wire harness retainer from the seat track.

  9. Detach the backrest cover straps and position the backrest cover upward.

    Release the backrest cover lower J-clip.

  11. Route the manual lumbar cable and wire harness through the seat backrest cover.

    Remove the backrest cover pin-type retainers.

  13. NOTE: Use care when separating the seat backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strips or the hook-and-loop strips may be torn from the seat backrest foam.

    Partially invert the backrest cover enough to access the side airbag deployment chute.

    1. Release the hook and loop strips.
    2. Invert the backrest cover.

  14. Release the side airbag deployment chute retainer and position the chute through the backrest foam opening.

  15. Partially invert the backrest cover and release the backrest cover J-clips from the lumbar support springs.

  16. NOTE: Use care when separating the seat backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strips or the hook-and-loop strips may be torn from the seat backrest foam.

    Partially invert the backrest cover to the hog rings.

    1. Release the hook and loop strips.
    2. Invert the backrest cover.

  17. Remove the lumbar assembly.

    1. Release the lumbar assembly cable retainer.
    2. Detach the lumbar assembly cable.
    3. Detach the lumbar assembly J-hooks.
    4. NOTE: Seat backrest foam removed for clarity.

      Detach the lumbar assembly upper J-hooks.
