Evaporative Emission Canister - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  3. Remove the fasteners and the shield.

  4. Remove the bolts from the leak detection filter and pump bracket and position aside.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Clean the EVAP canister immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material.

    1. Disconnect the EVAP canister quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
    2. Remove the nuts and the EVAP canister.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
