Battery Tray: Removal

Vehicles without Auto-Start-Stop System 

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost . Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.5L Duratec . Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.7L EcoBoost .

    All vehicles 

  2. Remove the battery. Refer to: Battery .

    Vehicles with 2.7L EcoBoost engine 

    1. Remove the battery tray nut.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

    2. Remove the battery tray bolt.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

    3. Remove the battery tray bolt.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    4. Detach the battery cable retainer from the battery tray and remove the battery tray.

    Vehicles without 2.7L EcoBoost engine 

    1. Detach the battery cable retainers from the battery tray and position the battery cable aside. Remove the 6 mm X 30 mm bolts.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    2. Remove the 6 mm X 18 mm bolts and the battery tray.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)
