Power Transfer Unit

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment 

Hose Clamp(s)
  1. Remove the RH halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH .
  2. Remove the RH roll restrictor. Refer to: Roll Restrictor RH .
  3. Remove the driveshaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
  4. Remove the RH catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter RH .
  5. Remove the LH catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter LH .
  6. Disconnect the PTU cooler lines.

    • Using hose clamp pliers, pinch both PTU cooler lines.

      Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

    • Disconnect the PTU cooler lines.

  7. Disconnect the PTU temperature sensor.

  8. Remove the PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.

  9. Disconnect and position aside the PTU vent hose.

  10. Remove the PTU support bracket bolts and the PTU support bracket.

  11. Remove the PTU bolts and the PTU.

  12. Remove and discard the PTU to transmission compression seal.
