Transmission Fluid Cooler: Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe RH. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Release the tab and position the wire harness aside.

  3. Disconnect the quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  4. Remove the bolt from the air cleaner outlet pipe LH.

  5. Loosen the clamp and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe LH.

  6. Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake lower pipe RH.

  7. Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake upper pipe RH.

    1. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
    2. Detach the retainer and position the EVAP canister purge valve tube aside.

    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Disconnect the bypass valve electrical connector and remove the CAC intake pipe RH.

  8. Clean, inspect, and cover all open ports.
  9. Remove the cooler bypass valve. Refer to: Cooler Bypass Valve .
  10. Remove the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid cooler tube assembly tube studbolt.

  11. Inspect the transmission fluid cooler to be sure the transmission fluid tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission fluid tube and are not stuck in the transmission fluid cooler. If the transmission fluid tube seal or backing ring are stuck in the transmission fluid cooler, remove the seal and backing ring.

  12. Remove the nut and position the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid cooler tube assembly tube aside.

  13. Clamp the coolant hoses and disconnect the coolant hose quick-connect couplings.

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  14. NOTE: When removing or installing the high-pressure fuel pump noise insulator, spreading the openings will reduce the risk of damage.
  15. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump noise insulator.

  16. Remove the nuts and the transmission fluid cooler.
