Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly tube quick connect coupling secondary latch.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly tube quick connect coupling.
Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).
- Disconnect the coolant hose standoff from the transmission fluid cooler tube studbolt.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly tube studbolt from the transmission fluid cooler.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the nut and the transmission fluid cooler-to-transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly tube.
- Inspect the transmission fluid cooler to be sure the transmission fluid tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission fluid tube and are not stuck in the transmission fluid cooler. If the transmission fluid tube seal or backing ring are stuck in the transmission fluid cooler, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Completely loosen the fitting.
- Remove the studbolt and the tube.
- Inspect the transmission fluid cooler to be sure the transmission fluid tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission fluid tube and are not stuck in the transmission fluid cooler. If the transmission fluid tube seal or backing ring are stuck in the transmission fluid cooler, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever, remove the bolts and position the selector lever cable aside.
- Remove the transmission-to-cooler bypass valve tube bolt from the transmission.
- Inspect the transmission to be sure the transmission fluid tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission fluid tube and are not stuck in the transmission. If the transmission fluid tube seal or backing ring are stuck in the transmission, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Completely loosen the fitting and remove the transmission-to-cooler bypass valve tube.
- Completely loosen the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission tube fitting.
- Remove the bolt and the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission tube.
- Completely loosen the fitting and disconnect the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly-to-cooler bypass valve tube from the valve.
- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the LH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
- Remove the fasteners and the engine undershield.
- Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly-to-cooler bypass valve tube quick connect coupling secondary latch.
- Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly-to-cooler bypass valve tube quick connect coupling.
Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).
- Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly-to-cooler bypass valve tube.
- Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler .
- Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube assembly.
