Cooler Bypass Valve: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the cooler bypass valve, the nut and the bolt.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  2. Connect the tubes and tighten the fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  3. Inspect the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

    1. Backing ring (7J324)
    2. Seal (7D285)

      Material: Motorcraft ® MERCON ® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (MERCON ® LV) (WSS-M2C938-A)

  4. Install the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission fluid cooler tube.
    1. Tighten the fitting.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    2. Install the studbolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  5. Connect the coolant hose standoff to the transmission fluid cooler tube studbolt.

  6. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  7. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
