Cooling Module: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant .
  3. Remove the CAC outlet pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Outlet Pipe .
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  5. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose.

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    1. Remove the condenser outlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

    2. Remove the condenser inlet nut and disconnect the fitting.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  6. Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

  7. NOTE: Bumper beam not displayed for clarity.

    With the help of an assistant cut the cable ties and remove the cooling module.
