Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

- Remove the flexplate. Refer to: Flexplate .
- Remove the bolts and the crankshaft rear seal, discard the crankshaft rear seal.

NOTE: Do not Use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant.
Clean and inspect the oil pan and cylinder block mating surfaces. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
