Pinpoint Test BC : The Perimeter Alarm Chime Is Inoperative

  1. BC1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BC2
    No  Refer to: IPC Hardware Testing .

  2. BC2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE PERIMETER ALARM

    • Arm the perimeter alarm using the remote key locking feature (key fob).

    • Wait approximately 15 seconds for the system to arm.

    • Open the driver door using the interior door handle.

    Does the perimeter alarm sound after 12 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BC3
    No  REFER to: Perimeter Anti-Theft Alarm System (Hybrid/Energi) .

  3. BC3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  BC4

  4. BC4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Module Communications Network (Hybrid/Energi) .
    No  DIAGNOSE all BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to: Multifunction Electronic Modules (Hybrid/Energi) .
