Trailing Arm: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
  1. Remove the wheel bearing and wheel hub. Refer to: Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub .
  2. Remove the spring. Refer to: Rear Coil Spring .
  3. Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

  4. Support the rear suspension. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  5. Remove and discard the rear shock absorber lower bolt. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  6. Remove the bolt and position aside the parking brake cable.

  7. Remove the pin type retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

    • Remove and discard the bolt and position the front lower arm aside.

    • Remove and discard the bolt and position brake hoses and bracket aside.

  8. Remove and discard the bolts and remove the trailing arm.
