Trailing Arm: Installation

  1. NOTE: Fabricate a spacer.
    NOTE: Focus, Focus-BEV and Focus-ST require different length spacers.

    1. Focus, Focus-BEV. Measure the length as per the specifications.
    2. Focus-ST. Measure the length as per the specifications.

  2. Support the rear suspension and position the correct spacer. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

    1. Install the trailing arm and tighten the new front bolts.

      Torque

      : 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

    2. NOTE: Finger tight at this stage.

      Install the new trailing arm-to-lower arm bolt and nut.

  3. Position the front lower arm and brake hoses and bracket and tighten the bolts.

    Torque

    : 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  4. Position the wiring harness and install the pin type retainers.

  5. Position the parking brake cable and install the bolt.

    Torque

    : 17 lb.in (1.9 Nm)

  6. Position the rear shock absorber and install the new rear shock absorber lower bolt.

    Torque

    : 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  7. Install the underbody shield and install the bolts.

  8. Install the wheel bearing and wheel hub. Refer to: Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub 
  9. Install the spring. Refer to: Rear Coil Spring .
