In-Vehicle Crossbeam: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .
- Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
- Disconnect the hose, remove the screws and the cowl panel.
- Remove the bolts.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the instrument panel upper section. Refer to: Instrument Panel Upper Section .
- Remove both front doors. Refer to: Front Door .
- On both sides. Remove the A-pillar to in-vehicle crossbeam support bolt.
Torque
: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Remove the HVAC ducts.
- Remove the bolts and the instrument panel center brace.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Detach the wiring harness retainers and position the wiring harness aside.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

- Disconnect the electric connectors and detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Remove the screws and the air plenum bezel.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove the climate control housing bolts.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: To avoid damaging the in-vehicle cross beam, an assistant is required when carrying out the following steps.NOTE: Remove the bolts from one side completely and support the in-vehicle cross beam before removing the bolts from the opposite sideNOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the in-vehicle cross beam or damage to the components may occur.
With the help of an assistant. Remove the bolts and the in-vehicle crossbeam from the vehicle.

: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
