Cooling Module: Removal

  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant .
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding  .
  4. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.

  6. Depress the tabs and disconnect the coolant tube.

  7. Remove the fasteners and the A/C lines. Discard the O-rings and gasket seals.

  8. Pull the radiator hoses spring clips until the end of the clips are in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the radiator hoses.

  9. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the CAC pipes.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  11. Detach the electrical connectors and the wiring harness retainer from the lower radiator support.

  12. If equipped, drill out the rivet that supports the lower support. Remove the fasteners and the cooling module.
