Halfshaft Seal RH: Removal

  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
    1. Remove the air deflector.
    2. Remove the underbody shield.

  3. Remove the TC outline pipe.

    1. Remove the TC outlet pipe mounting bracket bolts.
    2. Loosen the TC outlet pipe clamps and remove the TC outlet pipe.

  4. Remove the retainer and position aside the RH brake hose.

  5. NOTE: Do not use a prying device or separator fork between the ball joint and the wheel knuckle. Damage to the ball joint or ball joint seal may result. Only use the pry bar by inserting it into the lower arm body opening.
    NOTE: Use care when releasing the lower arm and wheel knuckle into the resting position or damage to the ball joint seal may occur.

    Remove the RH lower control arm nut and bolt, separate the lower control arm from the steering knuckle.

  6. If equipped. Remove the underbody shield.

    1. Remove the nuts.
    2. Remove the intermediate shaft bearing retaining cap.
    3. Pull outward and position aside the intermediate shaft.

  7. Remove the halfshaft seal.
