Hot Air Gun
  1. Remove the selector mechanism.

    1. Attach the transmission to the special tool. Use Special Service Tool: 307-003 (T57L-500-B) Holding Fixture, Transmission.
    2. Set the manual shift lever to the neutral (N) position.
    3. NOTE: Note the location of the short and long bolts for reassembly.

      Remove the bolts and the selector mechanism.

  2. Remove the halfshaft seal, the bolts and the clutch slave cylinder.

  4. NOTE: Remove the clutch housing with the input shaft pointing upward.

    Remove the clutch housing.

  5. Remove the differential assembly.

    1. Remove the differential assembly.
    2. Remove the magnet.
    3. Remove the shift rails.
    4. Remove the reverse idle gear bolts.

  6. NOTE: Marking the components makes installation easier.

    Remove the shift forks.

    1. Remove the 1st/2nd shift fork.
    2. Remove the 3rd/4th shift fork.
    3. Remove the 5th/reverse shift fork.

  7. Remove the reverse idler gear retainer.

    • Lift the input shaft and output shaft out of the case.

    • Pull the reverse idler gear retainer up.

    • Remove the reverse idler gear retainer.

  10. Remove the bearing race from the clutch housing. Use Special Service Tool: 308-001 (T58L-101-B) Remover, Pilot Bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hot Air Gun

  11. Remove the input shaft and output shaft bearing races. Use Special Service Tool: 308-001 (T58L-101-B) Remover, Pilot Bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hot Air Gun

      Remove the selective shims.

  12. Remove the bearing race from the transmission housing. Use Special Service Tool: 308-001 (T58L-101-B) Remover, Pilot Bearing. Use the General Equipment: Hot Air Gun

  14. The following two steps should only be performed if the reverse gear idler shaft is damaged.
  15. Remove the bolts.

  16. Push the reverse gear idler shaft out and remove the reverse gear idler shaft.
