DTC Fault Trigger Condition-PCM

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
There is a tailpipe actuator in the LH muffler outlet pipe. The PCM uses a PWM circuit to control the operation of the tailpipe actuator. The PCM fully opens the actuator based on engine load, engine RPM and vehicle speed. The actuator is either fully open or fully closed. With the actuator open the exhaust will be noticeably louder. Refer to the Owner's Literature for more information. The valve position can be verified by looking into the LH muffler outlet pipe. If a fault is detected by the valve, it will short the PWM control circuit to ground for a specific period of time:

SELF-TEST
With the ignition OFF and the PCM in sleep mode the tailpipe actuator perform a self-test when the drivers door is opened. During the self-test, the tailpipe actuator fully opens and closes twice.
