Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor: Installation

- Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the No. 1 piston is 45 degrees BTDC using the guide holes on the engine front cover and the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the cylinder block plug.
- Install Special Service Tool. Use Special Service Tool: 303-507 Timing Peg, Crankshaft TDC.

NOTE: The Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg will contact the crankshaft and prevent it from turning past TDC. However, the crankshaft can still be rotated in the counterclockwise direction. The crankshaft must remain at the TDC during CKP sensor installation.NOTE: The engine front cover is removed from graphic for clarity.
Install Special Service Tool. Use Special Service Tool: 303-507 Timing Peg, Crankshaft TDC.

NOTE: Do not tighten the CKP sensor bolts at this time.
Install the CKP sensor and the bolts finger-tight.
- Install the special service tool. If the special service tool mark does not align with the TDC marked tooth on the crankshaft pulley, loosen the CKP sensor bolts and adjust the sensor until the tool is installed. Install Special Service Tool: 303-1521 Alignment Tool, Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Torque
: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1521 Alignment Tool, Crankshaft Position Sensor.
- Remove Special Service Tool: 303-507 Timing Peg, Crankshaft TDC.
- Install the cylinder block plug.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Install the engine undershield and the retainers.
- Install the engine undershield reinforcement and the retainers.
- Install the RH inner fender splash shield. Refer to: FENDER SPLASH SHIELD .
- After completing the repairs, use a scan tool to perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure, following the on-screen instructions. Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment
