Oil Pump - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6F15: Removal

- Remove the oil pan. Refer to: Oil Pan .

NOTE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
Rotate the crankshaft until piston No. 1 is approximately 35° before top dead center (BTDC).
- Remove the plug.
- Install Special Service Tool: 303-1604 Timing Peg, Crankshaft TDC.

NOTE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
Rotate the crankshaft slowly until the crankshaft stops.

- Install 3/16 inch punch. Use the General Equipment: Punch
- Remove 3/16 inch punch. Use the General Equipment: Punch

NOTE: Take extra care when handling the component.
Remove the oil pump cover.
- Install a 6 mm drill bit through the oil pump housing and into the balance shaft. Use the General Equipment: 6 mm Drill Bit
- Install a 4 mm drill bit into the balance shaft gear. Use the General Equipment: 4 mm Drill Bit

NOTE: The 4 mm drill bit must remain in the balance shaft gear when it is removed.
Remove and discard the bolts.
- Remove the oil pump and balance shaft gears.

NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.
Remove the balance shaft weight.

- Using a suitable tool, rotate the oil pump belt tensioner.
- Slide the belt off of the oil pump sprocket.

NOTE: Discard the bolts.
Remove the bolts and the oil pump.
