Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Oil Pan .
- Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .

- Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamps, remove the nuts. Disconnect the vacuum tube from air outlet pipe. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the fuel evaporative tube quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Disconnect the PCV coupling.
- Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly.
- Install Special Service Tool: 303-F072 Support Bar, Engine.

NOTE: The engine will be supported by the 303-F072 engine support bar during the transmission and flywheel removal. It is not necessary to install the 303-1554 Engine Support Bar as directed in the transmission removal procedure.
Remove the flywheel or flexplate. Refer to: Flywheel . Refer to: Flexplate .

- Remove the bolts and the crankshaft rear seal.
- Discard the crankshaft rear seal.
