Pinpoint Test AK : DTC B19A4

NOTE: When taking measurements at Front Seat Climate Control Module (SCME) harness connectors, do not insert the electrical probes into the female connector pins. Inserting the probes into connector pins can cause intermittent or open electrical connections after reassembly resulting in Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and system failure. Touching the tip of these connector pins is recommended instead.

NOTE: The airbag warning indicator illuminates when the correct RCM fuse is removed and the ignition is ON.

NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

AK1 CHECK THE BACKREST TED BLOWER SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Ignition OFF.

Depower the SRS. Refer to SRS Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of Supplemental Restraint System .

Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Airbag C3051.

Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Airbag C3052.

Disconnect: Front Seat Climate Control Module (SCME) C3265C.

WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any airbag when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.

Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables .

Ignition ON.

Measure the voltage between C3265C-12 , circuit CHS04 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

Is any voltage present?

Yes	GO to AK2.
No	GO to AK3.

AK2 CHECK THE BACKREST TED BLOWER SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Disconnect: Driver Seat Backrest TED C3034.

Measure the voltage between C3265C-12 , circuit CHS04 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

Is any voltage present?

Yes	REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT driver seat side airbag C3051 and passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
No	GO to AK3.

AK3 CHECK BACKREST TED BLOWER SPEED CONTROL AND BLOWER OUTPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect: Driver Seat Backrest TED C3034.

Measure the resistance between Front Seat Climate Control Module (SCME) C3265C-12 , circuit CHS04 (YE/GY), harness side and C3265C-16 , circuit CHS13 (VT/BN), harness side.

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

Yes	GO to AK4.
No	REPAIR the circuits. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT driver seat side airbag C3051 and passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

AK4 CHECK BACKREST TED RESISTANCE FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT

Measure the resistance between driver seat backrest TED C3034 pin 2 and pin 7, component side.

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

Yes	INSTALL a new Front Seat Climate Control Module (SCME). REFER to Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT driver seat side airbag C3051 and passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
No	INSTALL a new backrest TED. REFER to Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT driver seat side airbag C3051 and passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
