Pinpoint Test B : An Individual SEATBELT Tension Reducer Does Not Operate

B1 CHECK THE SEATBELT BUCKLE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect the seatbelt buckle electrical connector on the side of the inoperative seatbelt tension reducer:
- Driver Seatbelt Buckle C3201 .
- Passenger Seatbelt Buckle C3738 .

Ignition ON.

Measure:

Driver Seatbelt Tension Reducer

Positive Lead	Measurement / Action	Negative Lead

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes

GO to B2

GO to B3

B2 CHECK SEATBELT BUCKLE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Measure:

Driver Seatbelt Tension Reducer

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes	INSTALL a new seatbelt buckle. REFER to: Front Seatbelt Buckle .

No	REPAIR the circuit.

B3 CHECK SEATBELT TENSION REDUCER VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect the inoperative seatbelt tension reducer:
- Disconnect the Driver Seatbelt Tension Reducer C354 .
- Disconnect the Passenger Seatbelt Tension Reducer C389 .

Ignition ON.

Measure:

Driver Seatbelt Tension Reducer

Positive Lead	Measurement / Action	Negative Lead

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes

GO to B4

No	REPAIR the circuit.

B4 CHECK THE SEATBELT TENSION REDUCER GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Ignition OFF.

Connect the seatbelt buckle electrical connector on the side of the inoperative seatbelt tension reducer:
- Driver Seatbelt Buckle C3201 .
- Passenger Seatbelt Buckle C3738 .

Ignition ON.

Buckle the seatbelt buckle on the affected side.

Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes	INSTALL a new seatbelt retractor and pretensioner. REFER to: Front Seatbelt Retractor and Pretensioner .

No	REPAIR the circuit.
