Pinpoint Test E : U0140:00

  1. E1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    Yes  GO to  E2.
    No  The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

  2. E2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the network test.

    Does the BCM pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  E3.
    No  REFER to Module Communications Network .

  3. E3 PERFORM THE BCM SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 recorded? 

    Yes  Multifunction Electronic Modules .
    No  GO to  E4.

  4. E4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE HVAC CONTROL MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the HVAC control module self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test H .
    No  GO to  E5.

  5. E5 RECHECK THE HVAC CONTROL MODULE DTCs

    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTCs.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the HVAC control module self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 still present? 

    Yes  GO to  E6.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

  6. E6 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all the DTCs.
    • Retrieve the CMDTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC U0140:00 set in the Driver Seat Module (DSM) ? 

    Yes  BCM Hardware Testing . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    No  INSTALL a new HVAC control module. REFER to Climate Control . TEST the system for normal operation.
