Pinpoint Test AQ : A Transmission Malfunction Display Is Never Or Always On
- AQ1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Close all doors.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the driver door ajar message?
Yes GO to AQ2 No GO to Pinpoint Test A - AQ2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTC recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC . No GO to AQ3 - AQ3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the TCM self-test.
Are any TCM DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to: Automatic Transmission . No GO to AQ4 - AQ4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No If the transmission malfunction display is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.If the transmission malfunction display is always on, INSTALL a new TCM. REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) . TEST the system for normal operation. If the transmission malfunction display remains on, Refer to IPC GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
