Front Lower Arm: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
  1. Remove the spring. Refer to: Rear Coil Spring .
  2. Finger tight only. Position the lower arm and install the lower arm-to-trailing arm bolt and nut.

  3. NOTE: Fabricate a spacer.
    NOTE: Focus, Focus-BEV and Focus-ST require different length spacers.

    1. Focus, Focus-BEV. Measure the length as per the specifications.
    2. Focus-ST. Measure the length as per the specifications.

  4. Support the rear suspension and position the correct spacer. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  5. Remove and discard the front lower arm bolts and remove the front lower arm.
