Pinpoint Test An : An Electronic Throttle Control (Etc) Or Engine Malfunction Display Is Always On
- AN1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) . No GO to AN2 - AN2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No GO to AN3 - AN3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTC recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: IPC No GO to AN4 - AN4 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Close all doors.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the driver door ajar message?
Yes Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING . TEST the system for normal operation. If the engine malfunction display remains on, Refer to IPC GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING No Refer to IPC GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
If the engine malfunction display is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.
